Second stretch goal hit! Bumper stickers achieved
4 months ago – Mon, May 27, 2024 at 05:04:31 PM

We hit our second stretch goal!

Thank you so much for making it happen! Now every physical pledge level will also come with a free 106.6 The Brink bumper sticker.

But first...a message from DJ Mike himself (AKA Aaron Catano-Saez).

As for our next stretch goals, we have...

Now for more collaborator spotlights! Introducing our musicians!

Under the aliasDon't do it, Neil, musician, game designer, and writer Mabel Harperuses sparkly pop and violent musical contrasts to explore the fraught relationship between heartbreak and desire. Blending K-pop-inspired musicality and post-hardcore-like dynamics, Don't do it, Neil navigates the slippery boundaries between sex, death, loss, and romance with catchy melodies, off-kilter compositions, and hi-fi production flair.

She shared with us her song TREASON

Omar Star silently exploded into existence in the final days of 2023—a musical [e/dis]ruption fueled by mountainous tensions between righteous passions, catastrophic events, and revelations of genius and madness. Star elegantly weaves together dance motivated beats, trauma informed bars, and nerd flavored innuendo into original songs and mixes them into enticing dance party experiences. Omar Star is a shimmering celestial butterfly ready to feed their insatiable need to express and create beyond a chrysalis of broken promises and misguided dreams.

They shared with us their song Got That.

David Jones-Krause is an Oakland-based TTRPG creative multidisciplinarian with a knack for composing haunting melodies and a propensity for playing wholesome magic cowboys.

He created the cursed sound (AKA In Digestion) which you can find here

I also recently did an interview with Rascal! You can read it here.

That's all for now! I'm so excited for us to hit the next stretch goal at $13,500!

First stretch goal hit!

Thanks to all of you, every physical pledge level now gets a free DJ Mike rocks! button with the order!

What's coming up next on the stretch goals? Well we have...

We also have a quick update to the soundtrack...

I promise, this is now final_final_final forreal. The soundtrack has been reuploaded and now, it also has captions that you can read as you play!

To turn on the captions, make sure you have CC selected. To make sure you have the correct captions on...

Under Settings (the gear icon with the red HD rectangle on it), select Subtitles/CC.

Make sure you have English selected and you're ready to go!

Now for more collaborator spotlights!

Austin Taylor is an award winning game designer, performer, and friend! When not doing that work you think they would sleep, but you are wrong as they are also one half of Maximum Fun's Secret Histories of Nerd Mysteries.

Austin plays the second caller on the soundtrack!

Gavin Stenhouse is a Hong Kong-born British actor, who trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. He emigrated to the United States and began forging his career in TV and film. He is most notable for his performances in the Emmy award-winning episode of Black Mirror, “San Junipero”; The CW’s “Kung Fu” and as the lead in NBC’s spy thriller “Allegiance”. In his spare time, Gavin enjoys rock climbing, watching horror movies, playing board games & TTRPGs, and developing photographs in the darkroom.

Gavin plays the third caller (the creepy one) on the soundtrack!

My friends are so talented and there aren't enough crying face emojis to show how cool they are and how much I appreciate you all for supporting our project.

Thank you again and fingers crossed we hit the next stretch goal at $11,000 (so we can get a free bumper sticker for all physical pledge levels)!

WE FUNDED!!!
5 months ago – Sun, May 12, 2024 at 10:26:40 PM

WE'VE FUNDED! Thank you so much for all of your support! Because of you, we can get this weird little horror game made!

So what's next?

We have a bunch of stretch goals planned! The first one being a DJ Mike button for every physical pledge level at $9000.

We've also revealed a few more pledge levels, including a new character to play (the Funeral Director) at $16,5000.

Also...More cast spotlights

I'm so thrilled to spotlight more of my friends from the game!

Jasmine "ThatBronzeGirl" Bhullar is a performer, writer and a content creator on Twitch and YouTube. She is the DM behind Dimension 20's Coffin Run, DesiQuest, Battle 4 Beyond and she plays Certainty Dran on Acquisitions Incorporated!

Jasmine plays the bumpers in the soundtrack!

Danny Quach (he/him) is the author of Digital Thiccness, a newsletter dedicated to making information about marketing, social media trends, and building digital communities as accessible as possible, sprinkled with personal musings and projects and pop culture through a queer lens. When he’s not writing and collaborating on TTRPG projects, Danny can be found lifting heavy things, eating tasty things, watching scary movies and listening to 2000’s emo/screamo music. Follow him on Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram.

Danny plays the first caller on the soundtrack!

It truly has been an incredible experience being able to work with my friends on this project and I'm so excited for you to hear them act in the soundtrack.

Until next time...let's hit that next stretch goal! <3

Introducing...DJ Mike
5 months ago – Thu, May 09, 2024 at 05:42:22 PM

Hiya listeners!

I'm thrilled to introduce you to my best friend DJ Mike, played by my actual bestie, Aaron Catano-Saez!

Aaron is a voice actor, podcaster, and TTRPG Enjoyer from Glorious South Jersey, home of BOOST!, The Pine Barrens, The Jersey Devil, and Run-On-Sentences. He is the co-creator of the fantasy worldbuilding podcast All My Fantasy Children on The Moonshot Podcast Network. He dreams of one day leaving Nibelheim, joining SOLDIER, and becoming a Sorceress Knight.

Aaron and I were chatting and we thought it would make sense for us to give the Cultist pledge level a discount! Obviously, we still want to make sure that Aaron gets paid the right amount for his custom message to the listener, while covering any other additional costs, so we're updating the Cultist level to $250

The USB will contain DJ Mike's custom message and a few other digital goodies, including the cursed song by David Jones-Krause and all 9 photos from the game itself (along with any other digital stretch goals we hit). I might even add one more creepy message to the USB.

Thanks for the support and we can't wait to spread the word of DJ Mike to you!

50% down, 50% to go!
5 months ago – Wed, May 08, 2024 at 07:42:46 AM

Thank you everyone so much for getting us to 50% on the first day! I'm so overwhelmed by all the support for this strange little game. Throughout the next few days, I'll be posting updates on all my friends who have worked on this game.

In the meantime, don't forget to check out this video interview that I did with Aaron Catano-Saez, Austin Taylor and David Jones-Krause

Also if you want to check out the soundtrack video, here it is! We are currently working on the captions, but if you turn them on, you should get somewhat decent captioning. Either way, we will be releasing the entire script in the book as well.

Thank you again and can't wait for us to get to 100%! <3
